dude i seriously agree with you. Why do the phone companies make you have the data plan? If you want internet on the phone just get it not make you get it with the phone. If you cancel the internet while you signed the contract you owe like $200 fee. and the phone is like $149.99 if you’re gonna cancel the internet then i would just rather get the retail..because that’s what the phone companies wanna make you do…I don’t think so.. I’ll just get mine used off ebay

I went for the iPhone today but unfortunately it’s over priced plans alleviated my admiration for it. I am now going to get the 8900 now.

i borrowed a friends Curve 8300 which has wifi. i was able to access some sites with the wifi without even putting a sim card in it. but some sites would tell me i need a data plan. i agree with you. its just absolutely ridiculous. why even have it on the phone if you have to pay to use it? should i pay someone a montly fee to use my netgear router as well? on top of my comcast bill?

theoretically no bc you’re using the wifi signal and not the gsm towers. but a friend of mine got charged on his so i guess they will unfortunately.

The thing is, what I’ve been TOLD to believe is that, in order to use even WI-FI, youll have to sign up for a data plan. The rep told me that even if I had WI-FI at home, it didn’t matter. I couldnt connect to the internet. So they (att&t at least) make you sign up for data plan in order to use your OWN wi-fi, which i think is ridiculous. Someone please correct or confirm me on this fact.

I have a sidekick flex pay plan…if i get 1 of these, would i need to change my plan? because i looked it up and both blackberry and sidekick plans cost the same and have the same stuff.
